Benefits Overview

Beacon Hospice recognizes that our employees are the organization’s greatest assets in providing quality hospice care to the patients, families, and the community.  Offering a comprehensive benefits program is an important part of taking care of our employees.

INSURANCE PLANS
All Beacon Hospice insurance benefits are effective the first of the month after completing 30 days of service.

  • Health and Presciption Drug Plan
    All full-time employees (32-40 hours/week) are eligible for the HMO Blue NE Enhanced Value Plan, HMO Blue NE $500 Deductible Plan or HMO Blue NE $1,000 Deductible Plan  
  • Dental Plan
    All full-time employees (32-40 hours/week) are eligible for the Blue Cross Dental Blue Program 2. 
  • Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
    All Full-time employees receive $35,000 of life/accidental death and dismemberment insurance through MetLife.  All full-time employees can purchase additional life/accidental death and dismemberment insurance through U. S. Life.
  • Short and Long Term Disability
    All full-time employees are eligible to purchase from Medical Life Insurance Co. short term disability and long term disability insurance that provides income replacement in the event of a disability. 

TIME OFF

  • Holidays
    Beacon Hospice observes six (6) national holidays per year and four (4) floating holidays available to use one (1) per quarter for eligible full-time and part-time employees.
  • Paid Days Off (PDO)
    A combination of vacation and sick time is accrued at an established rate per pay period. 
    Year one - the accrual rate is 2.4 hours per pay period or a total of 124.8 hours (15.6 days) per year for a full-time (40 hour per week) employee.  PDO accrual increases each year to a maximum at year five of 4.0 hours per pay period or a total of 208.0 hours (26 days) per year for a full-time (40 hour per week) employee.  PDO accrual is pro-rated for an employee that is paid for twenty (20) to thirty-nine (39) hours per week. 


OTHER BENEFITS

  • 401(K) Plan
    All employees over 21 years of age are eligible to participate in the 401(K) plan managed by MetLife, after 1 year of service.
  • Employee Assistance Plan
    EAP program provides our the employees and their families with a direct link to trained professional counselors who can help with a verity of confidential benefits such as Legal assistance, help with family issues, stress and anxiety and career advancement.
  • Mileage Reimbursement
    Employees who use their personal automobile for business are reimbursed at the current Federal IRS Guideline.
  • Tuition Reimbursement
    After completion of one full year, full-time employess are eligible for up to $1,000 of tuition reimbursement per year for courses which relate to job assignments or hospice related degree programs. 
  • Cellular Phones
    Members of clinical staff, management, and marketing staff may be issued Blackberry Cellular Phones for business related use.
  • Direct Deposit
    Pay can be automatically deposited to checking and/or savings accounts.

    A Hospice Volunteer Training will be starting on Monday July, 26.2010. From 6pm to 9pm. To register or for more information: Call Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, Beth Selinger @ 774-245-2125.

  • There is a Bridge-documentary movie about dementia
    Thursday July 15, 2010. 5:00 p.m. at the York office of Beacon Hospice located at 42 Brickyard Court and July 22 in South Portland. There is no cost for this event. Please contact Heather Thompson at 207-772-0929 for more information and to register. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

  • Palliative Care NP
    Provide Palliative Care Services for our subsidiary Beacon Palliative Care Services, Inc.

  • RN Case Manager
    The RN Case Manager provides nursing care and hospice case management to hospice patients and families. Implements nursing interventions and coordinates the Patient/Family Interdisciplinary Plan of Care.

  • Hospice Aide / CHHA
    The Hospice Aide provides personal care under the supervision of the RN Case Manager.
