Wednesday, February 27, 2008 (EST) - A FREE WORKSHOP: Kids, Teens and Grief: Are you a

AT THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL:

- Understand grief and loss and how it affects youth of different ages.

- Understand the myths of childhood and adolescent grief.

- Learn how to talk to a child/teen about death, dying, funerals, and how to appropriately and compassionately answer their questions.

- Learn how to maintain open communication with the support systems (parents, coaches, and teachers) in the child/teens life to promote healing.

- Learn compassionate approaches and creative   activities that a parent or supportive adult can provide to help a child/teen/family, who is actively mourning, find healing.

- Provide each participant with a resource list with age appropriate reading material, helpful websites and wonderful community resources.

WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM ATTENDING: Anyone from the Tiverton, Portsmouth, Little Compton, RI and surrounding communities, as well as parents, educators, coaches, counselors/ therapists, social workers, chaplains  or anyone interested in learning more about grief and loss with youth.

  • CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP
    A Caregiver Support Group for anyone who is caring for a loved one will meet on six consecutive Mondays (beginning Nov. 10, 2008) from 1:30-3:00PM at the Plymouth Council on Aging. For more information, please call Scott A. Ciosek at 508-747-7222.

  • HEART FOR THE HOLIDAYS/Daytime and Evening Groups
    An eight week bereavement support group for those grieving a loss
    through death at this special time of year.


  • Adult Holiday Grief and Loss Group
    Starting Tuesdays, Oct. 28th , 10a.m.-noon there will be a 3 week grief support group for adults who are struggling with the holiday season and grief. There is no cost for this group. Please contact Heather Thompson at 207-772-0929 for more information and to register.

    Responsible for providing ongoing end-of-life educational opportunities within the community.

  • Admissions/Intake Coordinator LPN
    Responsible for processing patient referrals to Beacon Hospice.
